Upcoming Youth Film ‘The Midsummer’s Voice’ Pushes Back Nationwide Premiere to August

The upcoming youth Chinese film The Midsummer’s Voice, directed by Zhang Yudi and starring Bian Cheng and Zhou Meijun, has had its nationwide theatrical release date moved from July 27 to August 24.

The film also features Zhang Chi, Chen Shaoxi, and a special appearance by Liu Jun.

The story follows Sun Xiao Lei, a drama school student who is anxious about his first major competition due to a delay in his voice change. 

While preparing for the event, he befriends two competitors: Shi Jia Hui, a tomboyish girl, and Xie Tian Ci, who comes from a renowned Beijing opera family and the three soon learn more about each other.

The movie, running 1 hour and 45 minutes, was initially set to release on April 28, 2024, at film festivals before its new cinema release date in August.
